3D High Speed HDMI Cable with Ethernet

| Jan 16, 2012
Do you still remember the times when for a normal HDMI cable you had to pay 50 bucks? And this for a basic cable, that could do only HDMI. For sure, that was an important piece of your HD setup - this cable made High Definition video and audio possible, so you could enjoy your 720p or 1080 HDTV. So everyone thought 50 bucks is OK.

A lot of good things happened in between, now you can buy a good HDMI cable with less than 10 dollars. This is good news. Better news is that you can do a lot more than only HDMI with this little cable.

You can do 3D with it. That means you can use this HDMI cable to connect your 3D Blu-Ray Player, your 3D capable Playstation 3 or your 3D HD Cable Box to your 3DTV and display your 3D Content with the best HD resolutions, highest refresh rates and truest HD Dolby 7.1 sound available to mankind.

If this wasn't enough, this cable can connect all your devices with the internet via the Ethernet channel.

So this is what the latest true HDMI version 1.3b Category 2 certified can do for less than 10 dollars.
Very impressive, I would say.

The make is important obviously. I tested a few and I must say, don't buy all the crap you get for 5 dollars or even the overpriced ones. Try the one from Mediabridge. This cable will do the trick. The 6 feet long Mediabridge 3D HDMI 28 AWG cable is built to last: gold plated, with full metal jacket connectors and shielding.

Just in case you're interested, see below the link. Let me know what you think!

Hunger Games - the 3D movie

| Jan 13, 2012
Hunger Games 3D Movie
Frankly I was expecting that, shortly after I read the first Hunger Games book. A great movie can come out of this book. Then I read the last two Hunger Games books, Catching Fire and Mockingjay, written so vividly from Suzanne Collins. Still the same strong feeling, soon I will see one or more Hunger Games movies.

And I was right, starting March 23, the first Hunger Games movie will running in cinemas everywhere, especially the 3D cinemas. Wow, that was fast!

Oh, you don't know Hunger Games? You didn't yet read the books? You have to! It's a great survival story, with a lot of action and violence.

This happens in the future, the world as-we-know-it is gone, the natural resources are scarce, the new world is called Panem, and on Panem there are only 12 districts, heavily guarded, almost under occupation, run by an oppressive Capitol. District 12 is the worst of all – there is only a coal mine for work, food is a big problem, there is a big electrified fence around it – you get the picture – life is not funny at all.

Once a year the Capitol organizes the so called “Hunger Games”, where one girl and one boy from each district are chosen by public draw to compete and fight against the others, in a very dangerous arena - until 23 contestants die and only one survives. So the winner must kill other boys and girls and survive the horrible conditions and mean traps in the game arena. The prize is money and glory, but no one cares really. The whole thing is widely broadcasted to all districts, in live vivid colors and probably in 3D, and people are forced to watch the horrible deaths of their children.

I learned from reading this book that survival is not always about sheer power or skills, but most important about small things, like water or warm, or having a bright mind.

The main heroes are Katniss, Peeta and Gale – all teenagers from District 12 who have to deal with the Hunger Games and fight hard to stay alive.

Very good choice in actors:

  • Katniss, played by Jennifer Lawrence – Mystique from X-Men, will definitely steal the show.
  • Gale, played by Liam Hemsworth, brother of Chris Hemsworth The Thor.
  • Peeta, played by Josh Hutcherson, certainly doesn’t look like a survivor.

Hunger Games 3D Movie

Of course there is a romantic triangle between the three. But I found that is almost no hint of erotism in this, which is good, it contributes a lot to the authenticity of the story – considering that almost every other minute someone is dying.

OK, enough with disclosing the story to you, read it for yourselves (get the books here:

Hunger Games will be one of the best 3D action movies of 2012, and this is only the start. Don’t’ miss it. Prepare your 3D glasses and set up your 3D HDTVs.

You are not convinced? Watch the trailer below!

The Avengers 3D - the greatest Marvel/Disney blockbuster

| Jan 9, 2012
Do you agree with me that the new Marvel movie The Avengers will be the most awaited monster hit 3D movie of 2012?

It looks like Marvel put together the coolest team of heroes: Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, and I don't know who Scarlett Johansson is supposed to be.

My personal favorite Samuel L. Jackson looks also very dangerous as Nick Fury - so the fun will be guaranteed.

And why are all these cool powerful heroes together? Supposedly to fight Loki, the villain from Thor. So many against only one? Good question - I guess we will find out when we see the movie.

You might also ask, why only these heroes and not Spiderman or X-Men? you will laugh but it's simple - Marvel doesn't own the rights for these characters.

It's actually a pretty smart idea when you think about it, to combine all those movies, stories and characters - and even to interconnect and plant some stories from one movie in the other movies. This definitely creates a sense of authenticity and for sure builds the pressure and suspense for all future sequels of those movies.

So The Avengers is predestined to be an instant hit, especially for all 3D cinemas, but also for home use - so make sure you have your 3D TV ready for the spectacular action and fight scenes in the Avengers.

Start: April 2012
Director: Joss Whedon
Stars: Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Samuel l. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth

And I still think Captain America costume is lame, luckily he still has his vibranium shield...

Cars 2 3D Blu-ray

| Jan 8, 2012
We all know the first Cars movie, how many times we've seen it? especially if you have kids you can't miss this movie, it's a classic.

The second part "Cars 2" comes also in 3D - so very cool if you have a 3D capable HDTV and 3D Blu-ray Player.

The story is a bit different - there is a lot of action - secret agent and espionage stuff and of course a lot of racing with Lightning McQueen (voice by Owen Wilson), this time against a very charming italian. The guys from Pixar really took their time creating very exact replicas of locations in Tokyo, London, Paris and the italian Riviera, plus some very funny new characters - that add a lot to the movie.

The main idea of Cars 2 is for the viewers to have a lot of fun watching. And watching Cars 2 in 3D can only double the fun - especially the races are extraordinarily vivid.

To own Cars 2 for you and your kids is a no-brainer. It's that kind of movie that you can watch over and over again without getting bored. You can get it here:

3D without Glasses

| Jan 7, 2012
what you all think about the new 3D without glasses technology?
playing with my son's Nintendo 3D and having the chance to preview and test a 3D TV without glasses, gave me a pretty good idea how great this new technology is and how popular it can become in the next years.

To me, it's not only about 3D movies - but the gaming business will rock if they will succeed to promote a 3D gaming console that can allow viewing the three-dimensional image without needing a pair of glasses.

Think about playing "call of duty", fully immersed into the gaming environment. Of course the main problem will be dealing with the changing image focus - if you will do sudden moves, with your eyes or with your body.
For some of us, this won't be a real problem, the hardcore gamers have a very good couch from where they can handle the game very efficiently.

For movies - having no glasses is the standard setting anyway - so having the 3D image directly in front of our eyes can give us a more complete movie experience.

The prices for these new 3D TV Sets are still very experimental and high. But if this will become a trend and people will start buying - then normally the prices will go down enough to make it available for the mass consumers.
